Wow look what your donations raised and where the funds will be distributed at Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

$60,000 dollars will go to Dept. of Nursing Pediatrics. In light of the ongoing pandemic the nursing staff is stressed tired and nursing leader ship is in need of additional funds to help provide much-needed relief to our 700 nurses. The nursing staff at stead family is the day to day face of care at the University of Iowa we need to ensure that they can help their patients have the best experience possible and investing in our staff and their well-being as part of that equation.

$60,000 dollars will go to pediatric vision care. We will establish a new fund in the ophthalmology department called Dukie‘s One Eye Open Fund. Currently there are no set aside resources to help cover cost of contact lenses for babies glasses eyepatch’s etc. for children who need them. In many cases when corrective action is needed these items are expensive and having this as an option for our families especially if the treatment would put a financial strain on the family would provide a new benefit at U of I Stead family Children’s Hospital through the newly named fund to honor the efforts of the Waverly community.
